Darien was born and raised in Taos, New Mexico. He studied political science and English at the University of Texas-Pan American and the University of New Mexico. When not keeping up with current affairs or writing, he can be found outdoors hiking, rafting, cycling, climbing, fly fishing, or backcountry skiing. In addition, he enjoys herding dinosaurs (raising chickens) and will one day finish restoring his vintage camper trailer. More than anything, he is the proud father of two sons.
