In addition to making a big difference in the communities they serve, Corpsmembers have themselves been transformed through their term of service with RMYC. All crewmembers have gained valuable personal and professional skills such as financial management, team building, conflict resolution and career planning. Conservation crewmembers earned credentials in First Aid/CPR, Wilderness and Remote First Aid, Forest Worker Safety and Chain Saw certification as well as dual credit from the University of New Mexico. In addition to First Aid/CPR our Energy Efficiency Crew received certifications in New Mexico Energy $mart Academy’s Retrofit Installer Series, OSHA 10, Lead RRP, and Lead Safe Weatherization.

At the same time as these Corpsmembers are completing the program, we’re beginning our 2013 recruitment. RMYC is seeking Corpsmembers interested in a six month or eleven month term of service as a Conservation or Energy Efficiency crewmember. As an AmeriCorps position, enrolled members will receive a bi-weekly living stipend as well as an educational award upon completion of the program. This award can be used to pay off student loans already acquired as well as pay tuition at most colleges, universities or trade schools. These corpsmembers will serve from January to late August 2013.
